"MINIHUNE" ALL-STARS

"Minihune" All-Stars is a program that incorporates vision therapy in the different sports while learning key developmental motor skills.  

The setting is in a fun non-competitive learning environment which allows children to build their confidence while getting the exercise they need to stay healthy.

Ages are from: 2 years old to 6 years old

SUNDAYS 9:30 am

Our year around program will focus on child development. Our Coaches will work on both large and small muscle skills during our classes. We strive to create a fun environment for you child so they can have a happy and healthy environment while enjoying exercising.  

Study have shown that exercise, strengthen both the prefrontal cortex (which is involved in executive functioning) and the hippocampus (which plays a key role in memory and learning). Which leads to our ability to think creatively, make decisions, focus and retrieve key information as well as processing it.

Each week we will stick to 1 to 3 different sports and have a point of emphasis to work on for your child. With the non-competitive but encouraging environment we will see your child grow and develop self confidence in them.

Here are what we will emphasize on with the background of our coaches.

Vision: " Vision Therapy" or "Sports Vision Therapy"

Incorporate vision therapy exercises to help

Tracking (moving your eyes from left to right, right to left, up and down, down and up)
Why is this important? When we read we have to scan words from left to right if your child tracking isn't smooth they will skip words, skip lines, or have to re-read things which will slow down reading comprehension skills.
Saccadic (rapid eye jumps, bringing our focus from one object to another)
Why is this important? When we take notes in the classroom, you would have to look at your note book then to the classroom board where the teacher is, if we cannot have a rapid eye movement from our desk to the board or board to the desk, you will fall behind in note taking which will lead to a lower comprehension rate due to being pressed for time.
Pursuits (smooth eye movements that involve following or tracking a moving target)
Why is this important? We have 6 large muscles that control each one of our eyes. If we cannot coordinate both eyes to move smoothly from left to right, we may experience double vision, miss something, or crossed eyes which will lead to eye strain and headaches while reading.
Depth Perception (to judge how far or near something is)
Why is this important? Just imaging having no depth while trying to catch something, walking down steps, parallel parking, watching a 3D movie, or playing sports. Your judgment will be loss which will cause a slower reaction time due to being unsure how far something is from you. If your child only has one clear eye and one blurry eye, you may experience loss of depth perception or suppression of one eye may cause to a "Lazy" eye.
Accommodation (making a target clear)
Why is it important? Your child should be able to see things "clear" both near and far. If your child cannot make things "clear" to them then it could possibly be an accommodative problem which can lead to eye strains, headaches, or fatigue. This could lead to your child struggling in the classroom.
Convergence and Divergence (eye teaming to hold an image as one from near to far)
Why is this important? Imaging when you are looking at a ball coming close to you. It starts out far where your eyes are aligned straight (diverged) but as it comes closer your eyes cross (converge) to hold that ball coming at you in focus. If one eye gives out because it cannot cross you will only be using one eye which will cause loss of depth. Your eye will turn out or in and will not be able to judge how far the ball is. This generation of learning are on electronic devices which causes your eyes to cross (converge) more because of the distance we hold things while learning. If you cannot hold your focus (accommodation) while crossing your eyes (convergence system) while reading, your child may experience some headaches which will lead to them giving up the task or not being engaged in the activity.
Visual Processing
Why is this important? See it... think about it... then react to it... all while your child makes a decision on the spot. Just think if you are walking somewhere barefoot and you are about to take your next step and you see a cactus. You see it, identify it, distinguish the color, know if it is poky or sharp, then react if I should take a bigger step to avoid stepping on it or step on it and feel the consequences. That was 4 different things you had to process all in a split second while making a decision.

Remember:

The experience your child will gain is not only for physical exercises but to gain important vision related skills to help them excel in the classroom and in there everyday life.

The tools you learn through sports can be applied to life as well.

Working hard,
staying positive,
being dedicated,

and not giving up when you experience difficulty in something are all lessons you can learn through sports.

To have a positive attitude is important as others may put you down or may not believe in you. But if you believe in yourself and stay positive then all things are possible for those who believe.
